I dug the raw, functional decor-- this place is clearly aiming at being a nightclub / live venue, not a decorated bar or ironic hipster hangout. The gin & tonic pour was nice and heavy, and the PBR was a tall-boy, no skimping. I loved the music being played-- punk at the time. I even loved the busted comfy chair in the back, which if you fall into will leave a dent in your spine. And the bartender was helpful when it came time to move onto another place... which came all too soon, because the place smells heavily of vomit... at the beginning of the night.
Seriously, the men's bathroom smells better than the main room.
Not going back.

The best stop on what I call the "Dive-Bar Bermuda Triangle" - as Zebra Club and Townhouse makeup the other two angles of this suckhole trifecta of drunken debauch - Press Club likes to get my body movin'.
The tough part about this place is remembering to keep my arms below my head while on the dance floor. Nothing screams "white guy" more than a "raise-the-roof" or a Ricky Martin "She Bangs"-esc double-arm swirly swirl.... Did I just think that would look cool?
I tend to forget these dancing rules I've set for myself because of the pretty strong $4 wells and tall cans of Pabst and High Life for $3.50 [I think it's up to $3.50 now - they used to be $2 :(]
Funny story: Went here the other night with a few friends, and at the time we didn't even realize it, but one of the chicks we were with kept getting blasted by the smoke machine up by the DJ's lounge. It looked like she was stepping out of a freezer in a cryogenics lab every 3 minutes or so.
If you're a wellman or wellwoman, the Seagrams vodka, gin and/or whiskey, whichever poison you pick, will give you a sweet hangover the next day. But it's nothing a few Advil and a liter of aguas frias can't cure.
Always a cover after 10. Hope it goes to the DJ? But covers are lame no matter which way you slice it, sorry Press.
The bathrooms are spilled-booze/urine tide pools.
Let me start off by saying that I am not a lightweight, but the drinks I had here were strong! I was already feeling a little bit tipsy after two drinks and usually it takes way more than that to get to me.
They have a dance floor in front of their stage/DJ area and the music is LOUD. There was also a weird smell... it wasn't gross but it wasn't pleasant either. Anyway, the ladies' bathroom was clean, but there weren't any seat covers nor toilet paper to be found.

We walked in at 10ish and paid a 3 dollar cover. We were the only two in the bar, which is understandable because we were early. It ended up picking up around 1130 and got really busy. Fantastic music. Not that Jay-Z and Akon typical radio crap you usually hear in the club--I'm talking hip gyrating, awesomeness that forces you to dance.
I will most likely stumble back there at some point. It was my first time and I was neither impressed nor disappointed. Then again I was sober, so put some PBR's they have on special in me and this place could very well get another star.
